We all have healthy boundaries in some areas of life. For example, if a man is going to lunch with friends on an average Tuesday, he knows that he shouldn't spend 100 dollars on a steak and bottle of wine. If a guy is taking his family on vacation he knows he shouldn't stay at the Ritz. But there are a lot of areas of life where men have no sense of 'what is too much'? How much time is too much time on Instagram? How much time is too much time watching football on the weekend? How much time is too much time playing video games? There are a lot of areas of life where we have no clear sense of how much is healthy and how much is sickeningly self-indulgent. Guys need to establish personal thresholds to manage their consumption of good things like TV and video games.
Personal thresholds are the guardrails that keep men on the path of wisdom.
It's clear that the world around you is pushing you toward immoderate indulgence - but growing Christian men don't default to self-indulgence. In this episode of the Cross Training Ministries podcast, Joe and Evan talk about how establishing personal thresholds is fundamental to training in spiritual fitness.
